How far is Upsilon Andromedae from our system?
Er...I don't remember. You can look it up, if it means that much to you. It's a real system. Most star-research sites would have that information availible to you.

How many planets are under Andromedae's rule?
There are 73 planets and 26 moons.

How dies the numbering system work for the different planets?
The numbering of the planets and moons is based on a few different factors. The first number in the sequence is how many "light years" away the planet is from the Upsilon Andromedae system. The second and/or third number(s) indicate the order in which the planets joined the system.
ex: Earth 1269 would be 12 light years away and be the 69th planet to join the system.

In the example, why wouldn't it be 1 light year and 269th to join, or 126 light years and 9th to join?
Logically, the former option would be impossible, as there are only 73 planets, and so Earth 1269 could not have been the 269th to join in ranks of 73. The second option would be pointless, because at 126 light years awaym the bond is stretched thin and it would be pointless to join the system at that distance. It would be like Spain becoming the 53rd state in the U.S.A. It just doesn't make sense.

If the above system in true, why are the three planets contained within the Upsilon Andromedae system numbered 721, 722 and 723?
Before the Grand Allience of planets happened, Upsilon Andromedae had it's own system of naming and numbering their planets. After the allience was made and Upsilon Andromedae was chosen as central headquarters, it was too late and rather pointless to rename their planets according to the new system.

Why did all the other planets change their names, then?
Because none of the other planets were part of a larger system. They were all single planets circling one or two suns. And the extent of human creativity is limited, especially considering planet-sized groups of people trying to come up with one single name that everyone accepts. So, all of these single planets were called Earth by their inhabitants. It wasn't difficult to just tack on a number at the end of the name for travel purposes and such.

Why are all the planets called Earth?
This was partially answered above. People are rather uncreative. Earth is a common, easy name that everyone associates with "home". Why not call your home planet "Earth"? Not to mention I didn't want to be creative myself and name each individual planet. I was already coming up with enough names for other parts of the story, I didn't need that additional hassle. ^_^;;

How does the political system of the planets work?
Think about it in terms of the American government. There is a big major leader: the President, in DC. There are smaller divisions of hte country: the states, followed in turn by counties, districts, and towns. The system in this story works about the same, only on a larger scale. It follows down the line of System, Planet, Country, State, etc down the whole line. In the end, the governmental gatherings on Earth 723 are HUGE (like the council in Star Wars) and therefore most immediate governing is done by the smaller divisions.

What are the important planets to know in the story?

  • Earth 721~

Where the senshi and centered. A water planet closest to the sun, Upsilon. Home to Thadeus Quincy Academy, the most elite school in the system.

  • Earth 314~

On the edge of the system, a small desert planet with little population and not much influence in the political waters. It is attacked by the Gorgon Trio and becomes a center of focus for a while as the rest of the system tries to figure out the sorce of the attack. This is also Xi's home planet.

  • Earth 723~

The political power of the system, farthest away from the sun Upsilon. The Gorgon Trio continues attempted attacks on the Council but are continually deflected by the senshi, so most battles turn to Earth 721 instead.

  • Titan~

One of Saturn's moons. Base for the Gorgon Trio, this icy moon harbors all the evils of the Trio that they leash upon the senshi and shittenou.
