Being my first prom ever, I had convinced my friend Robert (Teddy) to take me, or rather, I took him. Getting prepared for it was something I'd never done before, and it was quite a mess. Kathryn came over to do my hair for me, and then Katie and Brit came by to wish me the best of fun. I was getting anxious because Robert was kinda late (but that's to be expected) and when he finally came we spend some time in the house getting organized. He brought me a corsage (which I wasn't expecting, and really didn't need) and then I had to fix his bouteneer on. I'd never done that before, and he was teasing me about it and I threatened to stick him with the pins. Our house was far to crowded with so many people however, so we moved out into the front yard. My friends kept calling me and everyone was talking at once. I was getting kinda frantic, and Teddy was once more making fun of me and my frazzled feelings. I made him listen to Melissa freaking out over the phone and we all had a good laugh. Finally he whipped out his own phone in mockery, and I didn't even notice until later. Teddy climbed the birch tree in our front yard while parents were taking numerous pictures, and then he made the mistake of saying I couldn't climb because I was in a dress. Indignantly, I handed off my corsage to Kathryn and climbed up after him, much to the chagrine of the parents. But it was picturesque, and many photos were taken. We waited until Tiah and her boyfriend Ernie came over. The two Kidwells (it was ironic that both Ernie and Teddy had the same last name and weren't related) took pictures of them being the sophomore men and such. Since Tiah and I were the only ones in our group of friends going to prom, we took pictures of us with our escorts under the tree. When we got to prom, it was like nothing we'd seen before. Everything was decorated and parents and friends milled all around waiting for the Grand Parade. We all got in line to go take our walk, and finally we reached the front. Tiah and Ernie went first and did their walk, then Teddy and I went. And it was clear that I had the best hair there. ^_^
Everyone who didn't have a ticket left, and the four of us had a great time dancing and walking and talking. My
favorite part was the cheescake buffet, which I waited for the entire evening. My dress was a little tight after
that ^.~ It was a good experience, overall. I had my first slow-dance, and I've discovered I don't ever want to
again because it's one of the most uncomfortable things that you can go through. I talked with a bunch of people,
sat and listened to music, and all that jazz. I'm definately going again.
